Public Advocates for the Initiative for creating a Regional Commission for Establishing the Facts About Victims of War in Former Yugoslavia (RECOM) met with the Ambassadors of EU member states in Serbia to canvass for  their political support for the establishment of RECOM.

SARAJEVO, June 27 – RECOM is a pointer for future peacemakers and it is a necessary tool to build up relations in the region on healthy grounds, appreciation, openness, and respect, stated the Mayer of Sarajevo, Alija Behmen in the opening session of the International Forum on Transitional Justice in successor countries of the former Yugoslavia held in Sarajevo.

The Regional Consultation with Journalists and Editors-in-Chief was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on September 10, 2010 and was organized by the Coalition for RECOM in conjunction with the Peace Institute. The Coalition for RECOM is a network of non-governmental organizations implementing the initiative for the creation of a regional, inter-state commission tasked with establishing and publishing the facts about all victims of wars waged in the period from 1991-2001 on the territory of the former Yugoslavia.

By mid May 2010, the Coalition for RECOM had held 80 consultations with different civil society groups and six regional forums on transitional justice which were a platform for a discussion on the goals, the mandate, the selection of the members of the Coalition and its composition, basic activities of the regional commission, the needs of the victims, as well as the interim results of the consultation process.
