National Consultations with Civil Society Organizations on the Draft Statute of the Regional Commission for Establishing and Public Disclosure of Facts About War Crimes and Other Serious Violations of Human Rights in the Former Yugoslavia (RECOM)

On behalf of the regional coalition, Documenta – the Center for Dealing with the past, organized the national consultations with civil society organizations on the Initiative for RECOM, with the focus on the discussion of the preliminary draft statute of the future regional commissions.

These consultations were part of the presentation of the first regional media campaign of the Initiative for RECOM.The speakers said that the campaign of the Initiative for RECOM aimed to connect different groups and the general public in building a climate of compassion, solidarity and respect for ALL VICTIMS of wars in 1991-2001 in the former Yugoslavia, with a desire to develop a model of RECOM and secure one million signatures in support of RECOM.

During the Zagreb presentation of the campaign, which was held at a hotel in Dubrovnik before more than seventy participants, Director of Documenta, Vesna Terselic, spoke about the Initiative for RECOM and the objectives of the campaign. HRT, Nova TV, Jutarnji list, Novi list, Vecernji list, and H alter Weekly News were some of the media outlets that reported on the presentation of the media campaign.
The consultations with civil society organizations were attended by about 40 participants.
