XIV Forum for Transitional Justice in Post-Yugoslav Countries: Disrupted Reconciliation –How to Proceed, Summary

XIV Forum for Transitional Justice

The conclusion that the participants – human rights activists, artists, politicians, intellectuals, university professors and victims of the 1990s wars – reached during the two-day discussion, in keeping with the topic “Disrupted Reconciliation –How to Proceed?”, were not especially optimistic, because, as many of them werereminded, the Forum was being held more than 30 years after the beginning of thewar in Yugoslavia, only 500 meters from the mural with the image of Ratko Mladić,located in the centre of the city, and which in the previous days had been secured by police “protecting it” from citizens who were demanding that it be removed.
