In the retrial, on 14 October 2025, the Higher Court in Belgrade once again sentenced Gojko Luki\u0107 and Du\u0161ko Vasiljevi\u0107 to ten years\u2019 imprisonment each, and Dragana \u0110eki\u0107 to five years\u2019 imprisonment, for the war crime against civilians.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
An important development in the retrial was the court\u2019s finding that the unit \u201cOsvetnici\u201d (\u201cAvengers\u201d), whose members were convicted and whose commander was Milan Luki\u0107, operated as part of the Army of Republika Srpska rather rather than as an armed group, as previously described in the indictment.<\/p>\n

Thirty-three years after twenty people were taken from train 671, killed, and their burial sites concealed, the families mark this anniversary without a written judgment.<\/p>\n

Milan Luki\u0107, who is serving a life sentence for crimes committed in Vi\u0161egrad, testified as a witness in the retrial. He stated that he had learned about the abduction from the media and that all those taken from the train were alive.<\/p>\n

On 27 February 1993, at the \u0160trpci station, members of the Army of Republika Srpska, under the command of Milan Luki\u0107, removed twenty passengers from the Belgrade\u2013Bar train, selecting them by name and origin:<\/p>\n

\n\u0160e\u0107o Softi\u0107 (48), Fehim Bakija (43), Ilijaz Li\u010dina (43), Rifet Husovi\u0107 (26) and Esad Kapetanovi\u0107 (19) from Bijelo Polje; Jusuf Rastoder (45) and Ismet Baba\u010di\u0107 (30) from Podgorica;
\nRasim \u0106ori\u0107 (40) from Zaluga; Senad \u0110e\u010devi\u0107 (16) from Bar; Halil Zup\u010devi\u0107 (49), a refugee from Trebinje; Zvjezdan Zuli\u010di\u0107 (23), a refugee from Sarajevo; Tomo Buzov (52) from Belgrade; and one man whose identity has never been established.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The remains of Halil Zup\u010devi\u0107, Rasim \u0106ori\u0107, Jusuf Rastoder and Ilijaz Li\u010dina were exhumed from Lake Peru\u0107ac, identified and buried. Sixteen families still have no grave.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Following the pronouncement of the verdict, Nail Kajevi\u0107, brother of the still-missing Nijazim Kajevi\u0107, stated, as recorded by the Humanitarian Law Center:
\n\u201cI had hoped that, after three and a half decades, they would say they were sorry. Nothing \u2013 they still repeat that it wasn\u2019t them. There was room for the judge to say something about those who ordered the crime. Nothing about them.\u201d<\/p>\n
