{"id":137199,"date":"2016-01-18T11:42:59","date_gmt":"2016-01-18T10:42:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.recom.link\/?p=137199"},"modified":"2020-04-18T03:12:58","modified_gmt":"2020-04-18T02:12:58","slug":"zijo-ribic-buries-his-four-minor-sisters-killed-in-1992","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.recom.link\/en\/zijo-ribic-buries-his-four-minor-sisters-killed-in-1992\/","title":{"rendered":"Zijo Ribic buries his four minor sisters killed in 1992"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_12511\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12511\" style=\"width: 359px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bosniatoday.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ribic-zijo.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-12511\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-12511 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.bosniatoday.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ribic-zijo-300x169.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.bosniatoday.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ribic-zijo-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.bosniatoday.ba\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ribic-zijo.jpg 650w\" alt=\"Zijo Ribic looks at his sisters' graves\" width=\"359\" height=\"202\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-12511\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zijo Ribic looks at his sisters\u2019 graves<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Four sisters, killed in July 1992 at the age from 4 to 13, were buried today in Zvornik.\u00a0Funeral ceremony for sisters Zlatija (13), Zijada (7), Suvada (5) and Almasa (4) was attended by about 200 people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Coffins with the bones of sisters Ribic were transported from the Commemorative Centre in Tuzla to Zvornik earlier today.\u00a0Coffins of all four sisters were lowered by their brother Zijo.\u00a0They were buried next to their mother Sefka and father Ismet, who were found earlier in the mass grave Crni Vrh.<\/p>\n<p>On 12 July 1992, Serb paramilitary formation \u201cSimini cetnici\u201d killed six girls and a boy, all minors, and their mother and father.\u00a0Zijo was the only one from Bosniak family Ribic who survived the massacre.\u00a0Zlatija was raped before she was killed.\u00a0They also tried to kill Zijo, they shot him and threw him in the pit, but 8-year-old boy miraculously survived.<\/p>\n<p>Zijo continues to search for the remains of his two sisters Ismeta and Zlata and brother Sabrija, who was only 2 when he was killed.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s funeral was attended by RS vice president Ramiz Salkic, FBiH minister for refugees Dzevad Mahmutovic, advisor to BiH Presidency member Bakir Izetbegovic, and director of Humanitarian Law Center from Belgrade Natasa Kandic.\u00a0Fate of family Ribic is one of the saddest stories of war in Bosnia.
