The memorialization of Sr\u0111an Aleksi\u0107 in post-Yugoslav countries"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"content\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-authors field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-inline clearfix\">\n<div class=\"field-label\">Contemporary Southeastern Europe, an international scholarly journal of the Centre for Southeast European Studies, the University of Graz, Austria, published article about momorialization of Sr\u0111an Aleksi\u0107, a war hero widely commemorated last years, especially in Serbia and Republika Srpska.<\/div>\n<div class=\"field-label\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"field-label\">Author of the article is <strong>Nicolas Moll<\/strong>, an independent researcher and lives in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, since 2007. He holds a PhD in Contemporary History from the University of Freiburg i.Br., Germany.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field-label\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"content\">\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-authors field-type-taxonomy-term-reference field-label-inline clearfix\">\n<div class=\"field-label\"><strong>Summary<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"field-label\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field-name-field-abstract field-type-text-long field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">Despite various attempts, the memory of persons who helped and rescued endangered persons \u201cfrom the other side\u201d during the breakup wars of Yugoslavia is rarely publicly acknowledged. There is, nevertheless, one exception: the case of Sr\u0111an Aleksi\u0107, a young Bosnian Serb who was killed while saving a Muslim acquaintance in Trebinje in January 1993. Since 2007, Sr\u0111an Aleksi\u0107 has not only become publicly known, but his memory is also widely positively connoted in different countries and by groups of various political and ethnic backgrounds in the post-Yugoslav space.
